From February 15 to 18, the eyes of all those interested in mobility innovations and applications will be focused on Barcelona, where the doors will open onto the new edition of the Mobile World Congress 2010, the premier event for the mobile communications industry. This event, considered one of the most important on an international level, is the venue chosen by Acer to present its innovative range of mobile solutions.
Smartphones, notebooks, and netbooks will take centre stage as the best expressions of convergence and mobility, future and technology, as well as design and functional simplicity.
Today, mobility can no longer be fully addressed without the concept of convergence, or the capacity to use only one interface for all information services, across multiple mobile data devices. Convergence becomes the basis of a multimedia experience enabling the most diverse communications devices to communicate with each other.
Convergence is the only opportunity to create innovation. Today we have a new ICT (Information Communication Technology) industry yielding new products and services created as a result of the real convergence of the 4Cs – Computer, Communication, Consumer electronics and Content.
This concept clarifies why Acer's mission – to break down barriers between persons and technologies – which has now become reality, thanks to our commitment to research and development and to our drive to design products and services capable of translating advanced technological tools into easy solutions that anyone can use anywhere.
The digital revolution stems from the computer, no longer intended as a simple device for the representation of data, but rather as a powerful tool designed to process and create, process, edit and consume information and media. Convergence enables an extremely close and previously unthinkable integration of extremely different codes and languages. This process directly involves methods of representing, exchanging and organising information, and is expressed in new and innovative ways made possible by technology.
The development of a single User Interface and the capacity to synchronize data are real benefits for end users. When developing new products and solutions, Acer follows a very clear principle: observes daily life and the way customers use technology products, so as to anticipate trends and demands, and combine the best technology available with software intelligence that can simplify the users' future.
It doesn't matter how advanced the technology is if it is not easy to use.
Today, organisations as well as individual users have an increasing need to receive and distribute information and data in real time. In order to meet these demands, there has been a notable growth in Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies and smartphone functions, to the point that they now integrate UMTS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connection capabilities and can handle any type of file.
Offering the possibility to access Internet anytime, anywhere, true mobility can be regarded as a pure wireless experience. And it’s precisely thanks to Internet that people can overcome the limits of space and time, and choose to live wherever they want. There are no limits to online social interaction, except for those imposed by our own imagination. Acer has therefore developed its entire range of products with one thought in mind: enriching the people’s lives through simplicity, offering immediate Internet access, giving everyone the opportunity to communicate in any social network, and above all allowing the full and perfect synchronization between smartphones and PCs - whether they be netbooks or notebooks.
“As consumer and business users adopt multiple mobile data devices, they will demand that those converging devices deliver a seamless and continuous experience,” stated Aymar de Lencquesaing, Senior Corporate VP, Acer Inc. and SHBG President. “Acer being a leading provider of mobile data devices of multiple form factors is uniquely positioned to deliver such a converged experience."
